Boy Scout Troop 39 earned their dentistry merit badge with Dr. Nelson!
We had a great opportunity to host a Dentistry merit badge night for troop 39 of Scarborough at A Perfect Smile. Troop members learned about digital x-rays and how to read them, discussed tooth structure and function, and each made a ceramic mouth model. In addition, Dr. Nelson taught the boys proper dental hygiene, the importance of professional cleanings and checkups, how to identify dental instruments and their uses, fluoridation, and careers in the field of dentistry.
Troop 39 of Scarborough was founded in 1931 and is one of the oldest in Maine. The current Scoutmaster is Doug Friedman. Scouts Tanner Sutkowski , Scott Delisle, Jonathan Ofiara, Marco Risbara, Mike Kelley, Brian L’Heurex, Tyler Lerner, Albert Publicover, and John Publicover attended Dentistry merit badge night at A Perfect Smile.
Dr. Robert Nelson was approved by the Boy Scouts of America in May of this year to instruct the Dentistry merit badge. If your troop would like to earn your Dentistry merit badge, contact A Perfect Smile at 781-2448 to make arrangements.
